Rangko Cave and Waterfall
- Cunca Plias Waterfall
Deep in the lush highlands of Flores Island, where the forest breathes in shades of emerald and jade, lies the hidden gem known as Cunca Plias Waterfall. The journey there is as enchanting as the destination itself—winding paths through dense jungle, the air thick with the scent of earth and wild leaves, and the distant whisper of falling water calling you forward.
As you arrive, the forest suddenly opens, revealing a cascade of crystal-clear water spilling gracefully over dark volcanic rock. Sunlight filters through the canopy above, dancing on the water’s surface like scattered gold. The waterfall doesn’t roar—it sings, a gentle, soothing melody that blends perfectly with the rustling leaves and the quiet hum of nature.
At its base, a serene pool invites you in, its cool, turquoise water offering relief from the tropical heat. The rocks surrounding it are smooth and ancient, shaped by time and flowing water, creating natural steps and quiet places to sit and reflect.
Unlike the more crowded destinations, Cunca Plias feels untouched, almost sacred—a place where time slows down and nature speaks in whispers. Here, every drop of water, every beam of light, and every breath of fresh forest air reminds you of the simple, powerful beauty of the natural world.
2. Melo Village
Perched high above the rolling hills of Flores Island, the peaceful Melo Village welcomes you with cool mountain air and sweeping panoramic views that stretch all the way toward the distant sea.
As the sun begins to set, the sky slowly transforms into a canvas of gold, orange, and soft purple hues, casting a warm glow over the rugged landscape below. From this vantage point, you can see the outline of Labuan Bajo, where land meets ocean in a breathtaking harmony.
Life in Melo Village moves gently, guided by tradition and community. The people here, part of the Manggarai culture, preserve their heritage through stories, daily rituals, and the captivating Caci Dance—a dramatic display of skill, rhythm, and ancestral pride. The sharp crack of whips and the beat of drums echo through the hills, telling stories of courage and unity.
Surrounded by green valleys and distant mountains, Melo Village offers more than just a view—it offers a feeling. A sense of calm, of connection, and of stepping into a place where nature and culture exist in perfect balance.
Here, above the clouds, time seems to slow, and every moment becomes something to remember.
3. Rangko Cave
Hidden along the rugged coastline near Labuan Bajo, the mystical Rangko Cave feels like a secret carved by nature itself. From the outside, it appears simple—just a rocky opening in a quiet hillside. But step inside, and the world transforms. The light dims, the air cools, and the sound of dripping water echoes softly against the ancient limestone walls. Then, as your eyes adjust, a hidden wonder reveals itself.
A natural pool of crystal-clear water glows beneath a narrow opening above, where sunlight pours in like a spotlight from the sky. The beam of light dances on the surface, turning the water into a shimmering shade of turquoise, almost unreal in its beauty. The cave is still—peacefully silent, except for the gentle ripples in the water. It feels untouched, timeless, as if this place has been waiting quietly for centuries to be discovered.
Slip into the pool, and you’re surrounded by cool, mineral-rich water, enclosed by stone walls that hold stories older than memory. Above you, the small window of sky reminds you just how hidden this paradise truly is.
In Rangko Cave, nature doesn’t shout—it whispers. And in that quiet, you find a moment of pure wonder.
